BFG Supply Acquires Greenhouse Megastore

Chris Beytes

In January, BFG Supply of Burton, Ohio, announced the purchase of International Greenhouse Company, DBA Greenhouse Megastore, a leading distributor of hobby and commercial greenhouse structures and related products. Greenhouse Megastore is based in Danville, Illinois.

Why the deal? “The acquisition of GMS significantly expands BFG’s greenhouse capabilities and product selection that will further improve service levels to customers in the horticulture market,” they stated in the press release.

“GMS is a great fit with BFG, as both companies share a customer-centric culture and strong commitment to the green industry,” said Dave Daily, president and CEO of BFG. “The GMS team has an excellent reputation and brings extensive greenhouse technical and operating experience to BFG. The combined companies will provide unmatched product selection and service to greenhouse customers.”

In an email, Dave explained how they would integrate the company into BFG. He said they will operate GMS under the GMS name. “There will be some backend integration to tie into BFG’s systems,” he added, but that will be transparent to customers.

GMS, founded in 1993, has in-depth technical knowledge of greenhouse structures and operations developed over many years of experience in the industry. GMS ships to customers across the U.S., from warehouses in Danville and Sacramento, California.

The deal now gives BFG 17 warehouses across the U.S. and Canada totaling more than 1.2 million square feet. GT
