It’s about time they recognized him, too! We’re proud to announce that Dr. Marvin Miller, long-time market research manager for Ball Horticultural Company and a long-time GrowerTalks contributor and advisor, has been honored with the 2020 Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award from Purdue University.

This award was created in 1992 to recognize mid-career alumni of Purdue's College of Agriculture. According to the Purdue Ag website, honorees must have a demonstrated record of outstanding accomplishments, have made significant contributions to their profession or society in general, and exhibit high potential for future professional growth. Selections for this prestigious award are made by a committee comprised of the Dean of Agriculture, associate deans, assistant dean, department heads and unit directors.

Marvin, Ball Publishing’s unofficial official hortistician, holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Purdue (1975), a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Purdue (1977) and a Ph.D. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida (1983). Typically, 10 or fewer alumni are selected to receive the award. GT
