SAF’s Annual Convention Cancelled

Jennifer Zurko

The Society of American Florists’ 137th annual convention that was supposed to be held in Phoenix in September has been
cancelled.

“Obviously, no one knows what the future holds or what the world will look like in September, but we have determined that canceling the annual convention is the wisest and most prudent course of action,” said Kate Penn, SAF’s CEO, in a statement. “While this is an unfortunate result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to making the right decision for our attendees, speakers, sponsors, leadership, staff and the countless other individuals involved in making this event a success.”

SAF said that they’ll still be holding a virtual annual meeting for the purpose of electing the SAF Board of Directors and addressing any other official SAF business.

Along with the convention, SAF has also postponed the SAF 1-Day Profit Blasts that were scheduled for this year (in San Antonio, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Buffalo, New York; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and the NextGen event in Denver. They plan on rescheduling these events when it’s safe to resume them in person. GT
