Welby Gardens to Close

Chris Beytes

A letter to customers dated April 4 was sent from the folks at Welby Gardens, based in Arvada, Colorado. Requests for additional comments went unanswered.

Dear Valued Customer and Partner,
I wanted to inform you of some major changes that will be happening in July of 2025 for Welby Gardens LLC, Hardy Boy Plants and HardyStart Liners. After very careful consideration, the property owners have decided it is in the best interest of the company to close business operations and sell the property. The decision to sell was very difficult for the Gerace family, as we consider the impact on our staffs, customers and suppliers. We want to thank all our employees, customers and suppliers for the many years of support of HardyBoy Plants and HardyStarts Liners. We plan to operate the business as usual until July 2025 and then cease operations. We are fully committed to providing the same quality of products and services through closing date and ask for your continued support and reliance on us as your supplier until that time. Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions.

Sincerely,
Marty Gerace
President

No word from the Gerace family on what’s behind the decision, other than selling the property, as they stated above. That’s not surprising, as a look at the map of Arvada and their location in a subdivision and next to a golf course would indicate that, long-term, land values are too high to justify growing plants on the property for many more years. They would not be the first greenhouse business to take advantage of appreciating property. In fact, it’s part of the retirement plan for many of you. GT
