Apply Now for Scholarships

Chris Beytes

School is expensive, which is why it’s nice that organizations like the Horticultural Research Institute and the Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund offer educational scholarships to worthy and eligible horticulture school candidates.

And it’s even nicer that now there’s a common application form that lets you apply for either organization’s scholarship offerings. That makes it much easier for students to apply for multiple scholarships at once and ease the time-consuming application process.

The new online application form is available at hriresearch.org/scholarship-application-and-resources. Deadline to apply for 2023 scholarships is June 1, 2023. Each organization will continue to operate their programs independently in the review and granting stages.

HRI will award up to 11 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $4,000, to applicants who meet various scholarship criteria, including a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in horticulture.

Sidney B. Meadows Scholarships will award numerous scholarships of up to $2,000 each to students in 16 southern states pursuing a career in horticulture. In total, nearly $50,000 in scholarships is available from that organization.

“We are delighted to join forces with HRI on this project,” said Danny Summers, Executive Vice President of the Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund. “This partnership is a great example of how two nonprofits can come together to make the scholarship process easier and more accessible for students.”

“By aligning our scholarship programs in this way, we can help more students achieve their educational goals,” added Jennifer Gray, Administrator of the Horticultural Research Institute. “Our partnership allows us to make the application process easier for students and increase their chances of receiving the financial assistance they need.”

Established in 1989, Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund has awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships. HRI, established in 1962, has provided scholarship and grant funding exceeding $9.5 million. Both organizations recognize the importance and value of education in horticulture and are dedicated to helping students pursue their studies. GT
