Selecta
Selecta announces a significant improvement to its Trixi mixed container program. The Trixi 2.0 method brings three different species into one unit by rooting the liners into a single-stuck multi-liner. This 2.0 format offers many benefits: 100% take on rooting; the final product is more uniform; and there is better, healthier rooting. Combos can now be created with more genetic diversity for further retail appeal, like new Kiss On The Chic
(pictured).
Ball FloraPlant
To finish your geranium and osteo crops faster, use Genesis direct-stick cuttings from Ball FloraPlant. All cuttings are specially timed and at the same stage when shipped for best uniformity in rooting. Grow retail-ready geraniums in 8 weeks, osteos in 12 weeks. Receive significant labor savings, reduced input costs and less shrink.
Blackmore Company Inc.
Blackmore’s new 21 Count Loose-Fill Tray#8896 is the standard 11 by 21.5 in. size. It’s intended for landscape use and/or woody ornamental type production. The tray features label ramps at each end, tapered cone cell design, with fluted sidewalls for strength and to act as an air conduit to the root zone. The new tray is #6 RPS and may be recycled.
Bloomz
New Hot Cherry calla lily from Bloomz features a purple-red color that is bold and consistent on a classic flower shape. This variety is early to flower and has maculated, dark-green foliage. Depending how it’s used, Hot Cherry can grow up to 23 in. (60 cm) tall with more than six flowers on the plant. Excellent as a pot plant, a cut flower or even in the landscape.
TandD US LLC
The RTR-500GSM Mobile Base Station offers unprecedented flexibility for monitoring and collecting data in greenhouses. By connecting TandD’s new line of RTR-500 Wireless, Waterproof Data Loggers through a cellular network, the system allows for remote monitoring and warning messages from locations where access to the Internet is not available. The battery-powered RTR-500GSM can send warning messages via email or text messages to cell phones through the cellular system if preset temperature limits are exceeded.
Spectrum Technologies Inc.
Spectrum Technologies’ new WaterScout Soil Moisture/EC/Temperature Sensor has earned an AE50 Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. The Spectrum SMEC 300 Sensor measures three key soil properties, moisture, EC and temperature, with little or no disturbance to the root zone. The carbon ink EC electrodes provide a large conductive surface area. The EC sensor can be calibrated with a simple, one-step process. Use the available hand-held reader to take fast and accurate spot readings. Or bury the sensor and track soil moisture changes over time with a WatchDog data-logging weather station.
