Ryan Messner has accepted the role of black belt in the Strategy Acceleration & Productivity group in Dow Agrosciences’ Turf & Ornamental business division. Previously sales representative for the Southern Urban Pest District located in Florida, Ryan will relocate to Indianapolis. Maureen Clark has taken the position of sales representative, replacing Ryan. Maureen earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Saint Joseph’s College of Indiana and has worked in Turf & Ornamental sales territories in Tennessee and Florida. She will be responsible for all Turf & Ornamental sales activities for western Florida.
Growers Greenhouse Supplies, Inc. (GGS) has formed a new company—JGS Limited Services—to serve the specialized greenhouse market, such as research centers, institutional glass enclosures and teaching greenhouses. Frank Jonkman Sr. is the manager for the wholly owned subsidiary, with Ray Gohn taking on the role of plant manager. GGS is a leader in the commercial greenhouse and retail garden center industry. Frank Jonkman of Jonkman Greenhouse Systems is the premiere builder of institutional greenhouse projects. “The addition of Frank Jonkman to the GGS group of companies strengthens us as leaders in turnkey project management for all greenhouse needs, whether they be conservatories, retailers, research greenhouses, or commercial operations,” says Leigh Coulter, co-owner of GGS.
Oglesby Plants International has brought on Dave Dagen as Director of Marketing and Sales. Dagen will direct and develop marketing and sales strategies as well as help the company move into new product areas. His responsibilities include overseeing all sales and marketing activities and coordinating activities of remote sales people. Most recently, Dagen served as general manager for Emerald Coast Growers, with locations in Florida and Pennsylvania.
Tina Stoecker of Designs of the Times Florist in Melbourne, Florida, was installed in July as president of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) during the organization’s 2009 National Symposium held in Kansas City. Installed as president-elect of AIFD was Sharon McGukin, a freelance instructional designer and floral commentator from Carrollton, Georgia. Tom Bowling of Fairfield, Ohio, was installed as AIFD’s vice president. Ann Jordan of Studio Flora in Naples, Maine, will remain the Institute’s secretary. Richard Salvaggio of Teleflora in Los Angeles, California, will continue to serve as treasurer of the Institute. Established in 1965, the AIFD is the floral industry’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design.
