Industry Loses: Bodger’s Sylvia Pardo

Ellen C. Wells
The tragic Christmas Eve murder of nine people in Covina, California, claimed the life of one of the horticulture industry’s own. Sylvia Pardo, the perpetrator’s ex-wife and intended victim, was the personal assistant to Steve Jones, director of sales and marketing for Bodger Seeds.

Sylvia worked with Steve for five years, assisting with all of the administrative details of Bodger’s California and Dutch Pack Trials. Steve says she was flawlessly accurate and highly intelligent, and a dear friend. “She was outgoing and so considerate of others, always saying encouraging and positive things to people,” Steve says. Everyone at Bodger will miss her.”

A fund has been set up for monetary donations to help the victims’ families, many of whom have been left without parents. Checks can be mailed to the Ortega Family Fund, c/o Law Offices of Scott J. Nord, 500 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 550, Glendale, California 91203.
