Proven Winners Awards $25,000 in Scholarships

Since 2014, Proven Winners has recognized individuals who exemplify excellence in three distinct areas of study—plant breeding, growing and horticultural marketing—and awarded scholarships to those whose philosophies most align with the company’s. This year, Proven Winners received applications from more than 100 young men and women enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, graduate programs, and technical or two-year post-secondary programs.

The 2019 winners are:

• Andrej Svyantek (North Dakota State University)—Innovations in Plant Breeding Scholarship

• Katelin Borden (University of Florida)—Grower Excellence Scholarship

• Renata Goossen (Kansas State University)—Innovations in Horticultural Marketing Scholarship

Five other students from two-year or vocational schools also received scholarships:  

• Ninway Aziz (Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture)

• Kelvin Devries (Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture)

• Kasandra Hernandez (Cuyahoga Community College)

• Felicia Millett (University of Connecticut)
