OHP’s New Kopa Soap

Chris Beytes
When you’re looking for an insect control solution, don’t forget about tried-and-true insecticidal soap—such as the new one now offered by OHP, called Kopa Insecticidal Soap. Like other insecticidal soaps, it’s a potassium salt of fatty acids that controls insects and mites (and also powdery mildew). The best thing is, Kopa is OMRI listed and approved for organic production. It’s the latest of several additions to OHP’s “biosolutions” segment for those growing ornamentals, vegetables and herbs.

Kopa provides fast, broad-spectrum activity on a wide range of foliar insects in the greenhouse, nursery and landscape markets, and should be a good rotational tool.

“When Kopa is applied, the spray solution coats the insects or mite pest and causes suffocation and/or desiccation,” says OHP Manager of Technical Services Dr. Carlos Bográn. “This action results in a quick knockdown.”

Dr. Bográn adds that Kopa is an ideal fit for those growers using beneficial insects or predators (but be sure not to contact them with the spray).

Kopa carries a 12-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI) and Caution signal word. For more information, visit www.ohp.com/Products/kopa.php. GT
